Paramount+ has officially announced the cancellation of “Why Women Kill,” putting an end to plans for a previously confirmed third season. This decision comes as a surprise to many, especially after the series had been greenlit for season 3 back in December 2021. The show, originally launched under the CBS All Access banner in 2019 before its rebranding to Paramount+, captivated audiences with its unique anthology format over two seasons. Season 2 aired between June and July of 2021, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next installment which will now unfortunately not materialize.
In a statement released to Variety, a Paramount+ spokesperson stated, “Paramount+ has made the difficult decision not to move forward with Season 3 of ‘Why Women Kill.’” The statement further expressed gratitude, “We would like to thank our partners at CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studios, the amazing creator and showrunner Marc Cherry and the incredible writers, cast and crew for two memorable seasons.” This acknowledgment highlights the collaborative effort behind the series and the network’s appreciation for everyone involved despite the cancellation of why women kill season 3.
“Why Women Kill” distinguished itself through its anthology structure, presenting entirely new narratives and characters each season. Season 1 became a fan favorite by interweaving stories from three distinct eras – 1963, 1984, and 2019.
