Why Wasn’t T.J. Miller in Deadpool 3?

T.J. Miller’s Weasel was a beloved character in the first two Deadpool films, but he was noticeably absent from Deadpool 3. The actor recently opened up about his relationship with Ryan Reynolds and offered insight into why he wasn’t part of the latest installment.

T.J. Miller and Ryan Reynolds: A Changed Dynamic?

Miller attributes the shift in his relationship with Reynolds to the latter’s soaring fame after the first Deadpool movie. In an interview on The Adam Corolla Show, Miller stated: “I got along with him better on the first Deadpool because he wasn’t a huge, huge movie star.” He suggested that Reynolds’ success changed their dynamic.

Miller’s Perspective on the Situation

Miller expressed his belief that Reynolds may harbor negative feelings towards him, referencing his wife’s opinion that Reynolds dislikes him. He went on to say he would not work with Reynolds again, although he made a similar statement about Michael Bay in the past and has since reconciled with the director.

Beyond Personal Conflict: Other Contributing Factors?

While Miller’s statements point to a strained relationship with Reynolds, it’s worth noting that Deadpool 3 focused heavily on the dynamic between Deadpool and Wolverine. Many supporting characters from the previous films took a backseat in this installment, suggesting that narrative choices may have also played a role in Weasel’s absence. Additionally, Miller’s past controversies might have influenced casting decisions.

The Future of Deadpool and Weasel

Despite Weasel’s absence, Deadpool 3 was a massive success, indicating a bright future for the franchise. Whether or not T.J. Miller will ever reprise his role as Weasel remains uncertain. However, his recent comments suggest a reconciliation is unlikely. Fans will have to wait and see how the story unfolds in future installments.

Deadpool & Wolverine is currently in theaters.
