Steve Asked:
Since God is all knowing, why would he create something that he knew would fail.
Steve, you’ve asked a question that has resonated through centuries, pondered by believers and skeptics alike: “Why did God create humanity, fully aware that we would turn away and sin against Him?” From a Christian standpoint, delving into this question reveals profound truths about God’s very essence, His intentions in creation, and the ultimate meaning of our existence.
The Essence of God: Love and Relationship
Love is not merely an attribute of God; it is His very nature. As 1 John 4:8 declares, “God is love.” This love is not passive or self-contained; it is dynamic, proactive, and self-sacrificing. Christians believe that God’s creation of humanity was not born from need or loneliness, but from an overflowing abundance of love. He desired to extend this love, to share it intimately, and to cultivate deep relationships with beings crafted in His own image (Genesis 1:26-27). This inherent desire for connection is fundamental to understanding Why Did God Make Us.
The Indispensable Gift of Free Will
Authentic love cannot be coerced; it must be freely given and freely received. Therefore, God bestowed upon humanity the extraordinary gift of free will—the capacity to choose, to accept, or to reject Him. A world where love is programmed or mandated is, paradoxically, a world devoid of genuine love altogether. The risk of dissent, of rebellion, of sin, was intrinsically linked to this precious gift of choice. Yet, Christians believe that God considered this risk not as a deterrent, but as the very condition for the possibility of true, meaningful relationships—relationships built on freely chosen love for Him.
God’s Foreknowledge and the Grand Plan of Redemption
God’s omniscience means He possessed complete foreknowledge that humanity would misuse their free will, inevitably leading to sin and separation from Him. However, this divine foresight did not dissuade His creative act. Instead, it established the framework for the most profound demonstration of His love: the redemptive plan through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:4-5 unveils that God chose us in Christ “before the foundation of the world,” indicating that the plan for salvation was not a contingency, but a foundational element of God’s eternal purpose from the very beginning. Knowing humanity would sin was not a surprise to God, but rather the backdrop against which His grace would be spectacularly displayed.
The Purpose of Life: A Journey Towards Relationship
From a Christian perspective, human existence, though undeniably marked by sin and its consequences, is understood as a transformative journey of growth, learning, and ultimately, redemption. Life for a believer is a path of progressively becoming more like Christ. We are invited into a personal experience of God’s boundless love, transformative grace, and profound forgiveness. The stark reality of sin serves to highlight our deep need for a Savior, compelling us towards a more profound comprehension of God’s unwavering love and boundless mercy. This journey of faith is central to understanding why did God make us – to be in relationship and to grow in His likeness.
The Revelation of God’s Glory
Ultimately, God’s decision to create, fully aware of the inevitability of sin, serves to reveal His multifaceted glory in ways that would otherwise remain hidden. In the face of human rebellion, God’s divine attributes—His perfect holiness, unwavering justice, compassionate mercy, and boundless grace—are displayed in their fullness. The epic narrative of redemption vividly showcases God’s absolute sovereignty and the immeasurable lengths to which He will go to restore broken relationship with humanity. This grand display of divine attributes is a key reason why did God make us – to manifest His glory through redemption.
Conclusion: Embracing the Divine Invitation
In conclusion, from an evangelical Christian viewpoint, the weighty question, “Why did God create people, knowing they would sin against Him?” finds its answer in the very essence of God’s love, the indispensable gift of free will, and the overarching, redemptive narrative of divine grace. While sin has undeniably introduced pain and suffering into God’s originally good creation, it has also become the canvas upon which the brilliance of God’s grace, mercy, and love through Jesus Christ is painted for all to see. Humanity’s story—creation, fall, and redemption—is ultimately an invitation to each individual to enter into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with their Creator, in whom the truest essence of life and purpose is ultimately discovered.

Gods love does infuse through humanity. I see Gods love for us in everything. Look at all the beauty he created. Along with every creature he created for us. Everything we would ever need to live and thrive was created for us. I have a completely different perspective. He wants us to live one another and to treat each other with love and kindness. I find this in my church family and my own family. God loves us so much he forgives us when we have done shameful things to ourselves and others. That is why he sent Jesus. He was the sacrificial lamb that shed his blood for us, so that we might live forever as god intended. The Bible is so interesting and is the history of the Middle East.

One has to wonder why this supreme being, who wanted so much to share love, only created 2 humans to start, if there was a design flaw with free will that would allow them to sin. Why not a larger pool, where some might accept?

God declared that He made man for His benefit, not for man’s benefit. God declared that His ways are not man’s ways since His ways is infinity as far as the east is from the west. God Has allowed 6,000 years of suffering of man;and beast for the only purpose of bringing glory to Himself. Baby human sacrifice was witnessed by God and many other horrors my mind cannot ever comprehend. WRITTEN ON THE WALL OF A GERMAN CONCENTRATION CAMP! IF THERE IS A GOD HE WILL HAVE TO BEG FOR MY FORGIVENESS!! GOD GAVE PUNNY MAN A FREE WILL WITH THE FULL KNOWLEDGE OF UNTHINKABLE SUFFERING AND MADE IT INCREASE BY CURSING THE FIRST TWO PEOPLE WHEN He could have ended 6,000 years of suffering 💔 God only can be perfect in every way as He is ❤️
