The events unfolded as follows: Prior to the Homecoming game, Bryce had asked Jessica to meet him afterward, claiming he had something for her. However, after Bryce’s fight with Zach resulted in Zach’s knee injury, it was Zach who intercepted Bryce at the docks, the intended meeting spot with Jessica. A violent confrontation ensued, with Zach breaking Bryce’s leg and arm, leaving him incapacitated and stranded. Zach, however, did not deliver the killing blow. He simply left Bryce unable to move or seek help.
Later, Jessica arrived at the docks with Alex for protection. Bryce presented Jessica with a tape recording, a confession detailing his past rapes and an apology for the harm he inflicted. As Jessica and Alex prepared to leave, Bryce pleaded for assistance to get up. Alex initially helped Bryce to his feet, but the weight of Bryce’s past actions and the pain he caused overwhelmed Alex. In a moment of intense emotion and realization of Bryce’s unrepentant nature, Alex pushed Bryce into the water, leading to Bryce’s drowning.
Despite confessing to the murder, Alex did not face legal consequences. Instead, the group collectively decided to pin Bryce’s death on Monty, who was already incarcerated – and, in a dramatic twist, revealed to be deceased in jail – for his sexual assault on Tyler in season 2. Therefore, Alex not only murdered Bryce but also successfully evaded justice, leaving Monty to take the fall for a crime he did not commit in the death of Bryce Walker.
